IDENTIFICATION AND SOLUTION OF PROBLEMS OF INVESTMENT ACTIVITIES AT AGRO-INDUSTRIAL ENTERPRISES
Abstract
In the context of high capital intensity in the agro-industrial complex, the sustainable development of enterprises directly depends on the quality of their investment policy. The purpose of this article is to identify the key problems of investment activity in Miratorg Agribusiness Holding and to substantiate ways to solve them. The empirical base consists of the company’s publicly available financial statements for a three-year period. The study applies horizontal and vertical analysis, ratio analysis, and investment project performance assessment (ROI, ROIC, NPV, IRR, payback period). The scientific novelty lies in clarifying the concept of the “investment gap” for agro-industrial enterprises and in proposing a model for optimizing the investment structure based on the comparison of normative and actual investment levels and a system of target performance indicators. The results show that the main problems are rising project costs, declining return on invested capital, imbalances in the financing structure, and unstable investment dynamics. A set of measures to enhance the investment sustainability of the enterprise is formulated. The practical significance of the study is that the proposed approach can be used to diagnose and adjust investment activity in other agro-industrial organizations.
