THE IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE ON THE SECTORAL STRUCTURE OF THE REGIONAL ECONOMY
Abstract
The article examines the impact of globalization processes and technological changes on the transformation of the sectoral structure of the regional economy. It is shown that the deepening involvement of regions in global value chains, the activities of multinational corporations, digitalization and greening of production form new industry proportions, enhance agglomeration effects and interregional asymmetry. The key trends of structural shifts are highlighted: deindustrialization combined with “new industrialization” based on high technologies, the growth of the service sector, the spread of digital and “green” technologies, and changing labor qualification requirements. The differences in the response of different regions to global challenges are substantiated, and the formation of “growth poles” and peripheral zones vulnerable to external shocks is shown. Special attention is paid to the role of the state in mitigating the negative effects of globalization and technological transformation: the directions of structural and regional policy related to the diversification of the sectoral structure, the development of clusters, infrastructure investments and support for innovation are revealed.
