Abstract

The article examines the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and ESG principles as a combined driver of an innovation-oriented economy in education. The object of the study is the innovation economy of education, understood as the creation, adoption, and diffusion of technological and organizational innovations across educational organizations and ecosystems; the subject is managerial and institutional mechanisms through which AI solutions and ESG approaches jointly affect educational quality, sustainability, social outcomes, and human capital formation. The study aims to develop a conceptual and operational framework (via measurable indicators) for key “AI × ESG” impact channels, identifying conditions for synergy and risks of misaligned integration. The methodology combines comparative analysis of digital transformation practices, content analysis of policy and methodological documents, and a mapping matrix linking ESG goals to AI functions in governance and learning processes. The paper argues that AI can strengthen ESG implementation by improving measurability and data-driven governance, enabling personalization and inclusion, optimizing resource use, and enhancing transparency; however, it also introduces risks related to algorithmic bias, data privacy, cybersecurity, the environmental footprint of AI infrastructure, and accountability shifts between humans and algorithms. The practical contribution is an indicator-based governance framework for implementing AI and ESG as a coherent, sustainable innovation program rather than a set of isolated initiatives.
