ADAPTATION OF THE FUNDAMENTALS OF STRUCTURAL LINGUISTICS TO ECONOMIC THEORY
Abstract
The article examines and analyzes the categorical and terminological apparatus of structural linguistics, which is subsequently adapted to economic theory, expanding the possibilities of its study. Aspects of Ferdinand de Saussure’s methodology are systematized, with potential for extrapolation to both knowledge in general and economics in particular. A review of orthography and phonology is presented as an analogy to the need for the correct collection, analysis, and interpretation of economic data. Synchronic and diachronic linguistics are related to the application of the metaphysical method to the study of economic processes and evolutionary economics. The study of language in history and the study of the history of language are compared with the history of economics and the history of economic doctrines. Thus, the given contrasts represent a universal tool, that can be used to carry out scientifically based economic research.
