THE MAIN DRIVERS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY IN RUSSIA

This article examines the main driving forces and characteristics of the development of the knowledge economy in Russia, as a concept for sustainable economic growth and economic adaptation to new demands and environmental conditions. A knowledge economy, based on the generation, exchange, transfer, and use of such an important resource as knowledge in the economy, must be underpinned by appropriate implementation conditions and meet a number of requirements; without them, this form of economic development is unviable. It is shown that economic growth in Russia lacks a clear pattern and is subject to the regular influence of global random factors, placing increased demands on the implemented economic development concept and its adaptive capacity. Experts estimate that the Russian economy will show minimal growth in 2025, a sign of economic stagnation. This article formulates and analyzes the drivers of knowledge economy development and the indicators reflecting them. The statistical analysis is based on current data and indicators demonstrating the development of Russian industry and the IT sector, as well as characterizing the state and dynamics of scientific research and development, and the development of human capital in Russia. The article focuses on identifying barriers to the development of the knowledge economy, including insufficient investment in priority sectors and human capital development, personnel shortages in promising industries, and problems with the interaction and adaptation of the education system and labor market to new economic conditions.
