Ação coletiva e sindicalismo na agricultura: a trajetória dos sindicatos da produção de laranjas no norte uruguaio
Abstract
Agrarian unionism in Uruguay has a long history of struggles and resistance that spans almost a century. Over the course of these years it has been the object of strong repression and denial of rights, and only in the last two decades have they managed to achieve their main historical demands. One of the areas where this long process of union organization, struggles and achievements can be seen is among the citrus workers in the north of the country. The long history of mobilizations, conflicts and negotiations of these unions manages to establish a continuity and relative consolidation of the collective organization highlighted in the context of the country’s agrarian unions. This article presents the main stages of this process of emergence, formation and development of citrus union action, to try to explore some hypotheses that allow us to understand the factors and circumstances that have made possible the continuity of these organizations and its advances in the labor rights agenda.
