FACTORS AFFECTING THE EFFICIENCY OF DRILLING BITS AND STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVEMENT
Abstract
Drilling bits efficiency is highly determinant to the minimization of the time of drilling and the total of the cost of drilling the well. The performance of drilling bits has a direct impact on the penetration speed, tool life, energy usage and reliability in usage particularly in complex geology. In this paper, the primary technological and geological aspects of drilling bit efficacy are analyzed and some of the possibilities to improve its operation through the optimization of the working parameters and the rational use of drill bits are considered. The research is supported by analytic computations, the comparative assessment of the indicators of drilling performance and the application of the proven drilling models. The findings reveal that the balanced optimization of the axial load, rotational speed, and hydraulic conditions contributes to a drilling efficiency increase by significantly improving the safety of operation and cost-effectiveness. Keywords: drilling bit, drilling efficiency, rate of penetration, axial load, rotational speed, hydraulic cleaning, bit wear, drilling optimization.
