Road Performance of Different Graded Asphalt Mixtures Under Various Load Conditions
Abstract
To analyze the tensile and compressive properties of asphalt mixtures at high, low, and ambient temperatures, as well as their viscoelastic mechanical properties under dynamic and static loading, four commonly used asphalt mixtures (AC-13C, SMA-13, SUP-13, and PA-13) were selected for this study. High-temperature mechanical properties were evaluated by uniaxial compression creep tests at 50 ℃. Low-temperature cracking resistance was evaluated by indirect tensile tests at -10 ℃. Uniaxial unconfined compression and splitting tests were conducted at 20 ℃ to assess tensile and compressive capacity at room temperature. Static uniaxial compression creep tests were performed at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 ℃ to evaluate the static creep behavior of the asphalt mixtures. Dynamic modulus tests were conducted at 10, 20, and 30 ℃ and at loading frequencies of 0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10, and 25 Hz to evaluate mechanical properties under dynamic loading. Results indicate that asphalt mixtures exhibit typical viscoelastic behavior, with mechanical properties strongly influenced by temperature, loading mode, loading duration, and frequency. The order of high-temperature stability is PA
