Abstract

A quick and precise approach for failure prediction during early stages of product design significantly reduces the overall development cycle time. The present study deals with how a static finite element analysis model of a dynamic cornering fatigue test (CFT) helps to predict fatigue failure regions in a disc, which is used in an adjustable-track steel wheel for tractor application. The critical regions that are susceptible to the high stresses and deformation in the wheel disc were identified through this analysis. This finite element analysis has been performed as per EUWA standard ES 3.12. The simulation results were validated through a physical cornering fatigue test conducted in accordance with established industry standards. The developed finite element analysis (FEA) model demonstrated a strong correlation between the numerical simulation results and the physical test outcomes.
