Abstract

Electric vehicles (EVs) present a viable way for the transportation industry to address the worldwide energy shortage and environmental change concerns. With increase in adoption of Electric vehicles, battery thermal management has emerged as a critical aspect for ensuring optimal efficiency, driving range, and life of battery packs. Nowadays, Li-ion batteries are more common as an energy source for EVs because of their increased power density. Lithium-ion battery packs for EVs have an operating temperature range of 15°C to 35°C, which is accomplished via control of EV batteries heat. This review paper will give an overview of the current battery cooling techniques employed in EV’s. The objective is to find cutting-edge cooling techniques that could overcome the drawbacks of the ones that are already in use and be incorporated into the thermal management system for next-generation batteries. Furthermore, the paper highlights the challenges faced in this field and proposes potential future directions for temperature control of EV batteries.
