The Case Study of the MZ Generation’s Leisure Experiences and Quality of Life from a Salutogenic Perspective
Abstract
This study employed a qualitative case study design to explore how leisure experiences among the MZ generation contribute to coping with stress, reorienting life direction, and shaping perceptions of quality of life. Participants were MZ-generation individuals who continuously engaged in leisure activities and reported stress relief, expanded life direction, and enhanced quality of life through their participation. Using purposive sampling, eight participants were recruited and in-depth interviews were conducted. Analysis yielded 36 meaning units, 9 subcategories, and 5 overarching categories, with the following core themes identified: (1) perception of stress, (2) perception and understanding of leisure activities, (3) stress management through leisure, and (4) formation of meaning in life. Overall, the findings suggest that leisure experiences among the MZ generation not only alleviate stress and depressive feelings, but also deepen awareness of stress, support the development of a healthier lifestyle, and ultimately contribute to a higher perceived quality of life.
