Abstract

This study examined the effects of weight training participation on physical self-efficacy and life satisfaction among middle-aged and older adults in China. The participants were adults aged 40 to 65 residing in Heilongjiang Province. A total of 300 questionnaires were distributed, and after excluding 53 unusable responses, 247 valid questionnaires were analyzed. Data were processed using SPSS, through frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability testing, correlation analysis, dummy variable regression, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that: (a) the level of participation in weight training (duration, frequency, and intensity) positively affected physical self-efficacy; (b) participation level positively influenced life satisfaction; and (c) physical self-efficacy also had a positive effect on life satisfaction. These findings suggest that increasing participation in weight training is essential for enhancing life satisfaction among middle-aged and old adults, as it strengthens physical self-efficacy and contributes to overall well-being
