FROM MOVEMENT TO LEARNING: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY MODEL LINKING PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND STEAM
Abstract
This paper presents an interdisciplinary teaching model that links Physical Education with STEAM disciplines through movement-based learning. Physical activity is used as a learning context in which students explore concepts from mathematics, physics, biology, and informatics through practical and experiential activities. Four interdisciplinary modules were implemented, combining physical exercises with data analysis, scientific exploration, and problem-solving tasks. Learning takes place across classroom, gym, and outdoor environments, promoting active participation and collaboration. The model demonstrates that Physical Education can serve as an effective platform for interdisciplinary STEAM learning, supporting both physical development and cognitive competencies while enhancing student engagement and real-life application of knowledge.
