Abstract

The article deals with the political views of Lao-tzu and Confucius. Lao-tzu's vision of political ideal is based on patriarchal unsophisticatedness, following naturalness and non-action. The ancient Chinese sage criticises the state as a political form of social organisation, which generates social fragmentation, violence and wars. The article also analyses the main directions of Confucius' political thought, an important component of which is the view of politics based on "zhen" (humanity), "li" (etiquettes) and "de" (morality)
