Abstract

Asthma is a disease that attacks the respiratory system, specifically due to narrowing of the airways. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with the Global Asthma Network (GANT), it is predicted that currently the number of asthma sufferers in the world has reached 334 million people. The number of asthma sufferers in Indonesia is 4.5% of the total population or more than 12 million (Oktaviani, 2021). In South Sumatra Province in 2019 there were 13,555 cases and in 2021 there were 18,716 cases. Nebulization is an inhalation therapy with a nebulizer. Treatment with a nebulizer is by inhaling a medicinal liquid where the medicinal liquid is first broken down into an aerosol form. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nebulization on respiratory frequency in pediatric asthma patients at AR Bunda Hospital, Prabumulih City in 2025. The type of research used was a quasi-experimental study. The design used was pre- and post-nebulizer therapy and deep breathing. The population in this study were all 40 children with asthma at AR Bunda Hospital, Prabumulih City from January to May 2025. The sample used in this study were 40 children with asthma at AR Bunda Hospital, Prabumulih City. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of nebulization on respiratory frequency in children with asthma at AR Bunda Hospital, Prabumulih City in 2025. Suggestions for this study can provide useful information for nursing staff who provide nursing care to patients about nebulization on oxygen saturation values and respiratory frequency in children with asthma.
