Abstract

Abstract Asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars are evolved stars that eject large amounts of dust. Here, we present emission models of circumstellar dust shells around two oxygen-rich AGB stars—RX Boo and HT Aqr—and one S star, Y Lyn. These models suggest that corundum is the most likely cause of the 13 μ m feature and that other alumina polymorphs may contribute to the 11, 20, 28, and 32 μ m features.
