Abstract

Zoning codes as of 2010 and 2020 were collected and coded for jurisdictions in the most populous 200 counties in the U.S., in 41 states and D.C. Using a systematic coding tool, they were coded for the extent to which they included activity-oriented zoning provisions in both 2010 and 2020, and for the extent to which they included provisions related to affordable housing in 2020. In addition to data at the jurisdiction (municipality/unincorporated county area) level, county-aggregated data are also provided at the county level for select variables reflecting the percentage of each county’s population exposed to the given zoning measure.
