Abstract

This research project examined police response to fatal and non-fatal intimate partner violence (IPV) and family violence (FV) against older women from existing data sources, including the Uniform Crime Reporting Program's National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) and the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). The goals of this project were to explore how existing data sources could inform a better understanding of IPV and FV against older women. This collection includes variables derived from the publicly available NCVS (Dataset 1) and NIBRS (Datasets 2 and 3) data. The NVDRS data is only available with restricted access through the CDC and is not available with ICPSR.
