Features of the ideology of the Bulgarian social-democratic reformists in the period 1903–1934
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide a detailed description and analysis of the ideological peculiarities of the Bulgarian Workers Social Democratic Party (broad socialists), BRSDP (broad socialists), in comparison with the reformist social democrats of Germany, with a particular focus on the ideas of Edward Bernstein and Karl Kautsky. To this end, a comparative analysis of the fundamental ideas of the BRSDP (broad socialists) and those of Bernstein and Kautsky is conducted. The research methodology entailed a comprehensive review of relevant literature, an analysis of archival documents from the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party (BRSPD), and a critical examination of theoretical articles by prominent broad socialists. The findings of this study are presented in the form of a comparative analysis of the ideological disparities between the Bulgarian Social Democratic Reformists and the fundamental ideological tenets espoused by Bernstein and Kautsky. The study culminates in a conclusion that draws attention to the distinctiveness of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Reformists’ ideological framework, particularly in the context of its adaptation to the unique socio-political landscape of Bulgarian society.
