Sustainable management in Bulgaria’s agricultural sector: concepts and development opportunities
Abstract
In response to the Europe 2020 Strategy and its fundamental objectives for integrated, sustainable, and inclusive growth, management practices within the agricultural sector are required to be both integrated and sustainable. Confronting global challenges like climate change and increasing global temperatures necessitates a diligent approach to managing and utilizing resources. This encompasses harnessing renewable energy sources and implementing a circular management model in agriculture. This report examines the major concepts of sustainable management in agriculture as documented in Western and Bulgarian literature, questioning their effectiveness and applicability in Bulgaria’s national agriculture framework. Additionally, this analysis identifies gaps and proposes future enhancements for sustainable management practices within the sector. Employed methodologies include comparative analysis, extrapolation, deduction, induction, strategic review, and structured interviews. The findings challenge existing paradigms and are pivotal for the academic discourse, offering new perspectives particularly vital for farmers focusing on innovative practices and sustainable growth.
