Abstract

The article examines the transformations that have occurred in science and art in the contemporary global society. The main objective of the study is to analyse existing research that may support societal transformation, and to develop new knowledge on the topic. Knowledge on transformation of sustainability has become fragmented, and some of its forms have become marginalized. An emphasis has been placed on analysing current knowledge and drawing conclusions based on experiences from different countries and institutions in Europe, in order to inform research, policies and practices on transformations that ensure justice in a changing global context. Achieving this task is related to overcoming differences between disciplinary communities of various scales and geographical locations, and gaps between social, humanitarian and natural sciences.
