Abstract

The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is increasing in the world, but the rate of its increase is higher in lower- and middle-income countries (LMICs). However, the prevalence rate in South Asia (ie, the age-standardized prevalence rate of 204.8 per 100,000) surpasses that of many other LMIC regions such as sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.1
