Abstract

In this paper, observer-based output feedback control was considered for discrete-time linear systems with state, input, and output delays. Based on the concept of bivariate fundamental matrices and the duality property between controllers and observers, two types of output feedback control laws were designed. The first type of control laws was developed by replacing the true state in the prediction scheme with the estimated state. The second type of control laws was developed by using the estimated future state. Under these two types of designed control laws, it is demonstrated that the separation principle holds for the closed-loop system, and input and output delays that could be arbitrarily large yet bounded can be entirely compensated.
