Abstract

Summary Foz do Amazonas is one of the most underexplored basins in the Southern Atlantic, and have a significant upstream potential. Its very particular geological settings (minibasins induced by mobile shales diapirs, collapsed sedimentary cone and deepwater to ultra deepwater reservoirs) makes it a very challenging area to interpret. The integration of the seismic into a Relative Geological Time model doesn’t only speed up the interpretation, it also reduce the interpreter bias and facilitate the reservoir delineation. The automated horizon extraction permit to have a broader understanding of the deepwater process and minibasins infilling. Its mainly consist of interbeded contourites and turbidites complex deposits. The infilling of the minibasins highly influence the channels types and turbiditic depositional style, going from confined to unconfined flows. Additionally, the dynamic shale induce a syn-depositional deformation that is the main controlling parameter for the trapping style of this area. Automated AVOs show stronger potential for hydrocarbons in the deeper reservoirs.
