Abstract

Summary In this study, we assessed the LWD acoustic image logs to infer the breakout development across various flow zones of the Middle Marrat and correlated it with the downhole ECD maintained during drilling. Based on the evolution of breakout width with changing ECD and multi-arm caliper signature, the study highlights the necessity of achieving an optimum downhole ECD to reduce or avoid breakout developments, which can result in an overgauged wellbore unsuitable for multi-stage completion runs. The study presents the critical impact of geomechanics to achieve a stable wellbore through heterogeneous HPHT Jurassic carbonates.
