Integrated Workflow for Artificial Lift Selection in Complex Tight Carbonate Reservoir
Abstract
Summary The global energy sector is transitioning from a traditional hydrocarbon-based model to a more diversified energy portfolio, driven by the need to meet increasing global demand while addressing growing environmental obligations. Technological innovations in areas such as formation evaluation and reservoir management are critical in supporting this shift, offering scalable solutions to meet both demand and sustainability goals from complex reservoirs. Producing from tight, complex formations is no longer optional but an imperative to satisfy rising energy demand. Mishrif formation, located in West Kuwait and extending through the Minagish field, is a naturally fractured, heterogeneous carbonate reservoir with tight rock properties This paper outlines the methodology for selecting and optimizing an artificial lift system and completion technology tailored to the unique characteristics of the Mishrif formation. The goal is to maximize production and improve long-term recovery.
