Abstract

Summary In this study, we analyzed borehole failure mechanisms within the Jurassic carbonate-dominated intervals of a HPHT deep gas field from North Kuwait. It demonstrates the value of integrating geomechanical workflows, simulations, caving assessment and weak bedding plane analysis to inform a tailored instability mitigation strategy. The study outcomes helped in better managing vulnerable overburden, optimizing trajectory design, operational planning, risk mitigation, and refining drilling strategy.
