Integrated Water Control and Oil Enhancement Technology
Abstract
Summary High-water-cut is the Major Challenge of all mature oilfields, a lot of remaining oil is trapped in the formation by water. The production performance of different high water cut reservoirs showed various characteristics. For bottom-water reservoirs, water-cut rose rapidly during initial production, and is relatively stable in later stages; For water-flooded reservoirs and fractured reservoirs, production performance fluctuates greatly. High water cut will result in production decline. As water cut rises, Measures for production enhancement will be ineffective. With a large amount of water production, problems such as sewage disposal and pipeline anti-corrosion will increase the production cost and workload greatly. As different reservoirs exhibit distinct water encroachment mechanisms, a systematic technology needs to be proposed to solve these high water cut problems. Based on our field experiences, “3W” integrated Water Control Technology was developed to mitigates high water-cut and production decline issues caused by sub-optimal well patterns and aggressive recovery practices in oil fields.
