Abstract

Summary Despite a relatively small thickness and the low average porosity, the Najmah Limestone reservoir has become a key secondary target, after the Middle Marrat reservoir, to sustain North Kuwait Jurassic Gas production plateau. Its attractivity is due to a generally high initial production rates, as expected for a fractured reservoir with still relatively high reservoir pressure, and by the large amount of available well data that help the processus of reservoir sweet spotting. The presentation explains the workflow used to define the sweet spots used for the Najmah Limestone reservoir and how the sweet spots are used to define common value areas (CVA) are utilized to segment the area of interest into smaller elements where similar decisions can be made on appraisal and development activities. The learnings after 5 years of appraisal and early development are also discussed.
