Abstract

In response to a changing landscape of business librarianship, a survey was conducted in 2024 to gather empirical data to discover both new and persistent employment trends. Based on multiple surveys conducted in the past, an instrument was created to explore issues related to business librarians’ educational background, previous work experience, professional development and job satisfaction. As many earlier surveys were conducted at least 10 years prior, the 2024 survey was also an attempt to update previous foundational work to identify new trends. The authors had sensed that much had changed in the field since these earlier studies, ranging from reporting structures to new and expanding skill requirements (GIS, data analytics and AI to name a few), and the primary goal of the survey was to provide updated data to practitioners to inform best practices in the new environment.
