Abstract

Phenomenological writing is different from any other kind of qualitative writing. It goes beyond mere description. It is evocative and spatio-temporally situated. You goals is to write evocatively to show the quality of the feeling, such that you and your readers have that AHA moment, where a reader says, Yes, I can see what that must be like. While there is no formula or step-by-step process, the discussion in the chapter gives you a sense of what phenomenological writing is. The entire chapter is devoted to helping develop your evocative writing skills, as this is the area where novice phenomenology researchers struggle significantly, particularly for those with limited philosophy exposure. This chapter attempts to take everything you have learned thus far and get you started with your phenomenological writing skill development.
