Abstract

As artificial intelligence (AI) develops rapidly, new copyright issues are emerging, particularly concerning the limitations of fair use of AI-generated works. Using copyrighted works without permission is illegal. Legal studies that adopt a normative approach focus on the applicable legal principles to deepen understanding of the current legal basis. Although Indonesia has copyright laws, there are currently no specific provisions to regulate limitations. Comprehensive regulations are therefore needed to control the application of AI in creative activities and enforce the principle of fair use. Based on the theory of development law, AI can be viewed as a tool for updating legislation, providing a foundation for legal and social innovation that aligns with the values of the Indonesian state philosophy, Pancasila
