Abstract

Industrial operations are increasingly challenged by environmental degradation, resource inefficiency, and rising carbon emissions. This chapter explores how IoT-generated big data, integrated with advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, enables sustainable industrial operations across manufacturing, logistics, and warehousing. By providing real-time visibility into energy usage, emissions, equipment health, and supply chain activities, IoT-driven insights support predictive maintenance, waste reduction, circular economy practices, and ethical sourcing. The chapter examines both conceptual foundations and practical applications while addressing implementation challenges such as interoperability, cybersecurity, and governance. Managerial and policy implications are discussed, offering a framework for organizations and regulators to operationalize sustainable, data-driven, and resilient industrial systems.
