Abstract

This chapter examines human–artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration in school leadership as a means of advancing educational equity, grounded in credibility, transparency, and ethical governance, with reference to the Finnish education system. As AI-based tools increasingly influence decision-making in areas such as student assessment, learning analytics, and resource allocation, school leaders face both new opportunities and ethical challenges. Drawing on Finland's long-standing commitment to equity, professional trust, and decentralized leadership, the chapter emphasizes positioning AI as a decision-support tool rather than a substitute for human judgment. Key concerns—including algorithmic bias, data governance, transparency, and accountability—are critically examined. In response, the chapter outlines leadership approaches centered on ethical oversight, human responsibility, and stakeholder trust. It proposes an equity-driven human–AI collaborative leadership framework that balances technological innovation with democratic values and social justice in higher education.
