Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming higher education by improving efficiency, consistency, and scalability in assessment and accreditation. Yet its impact on equity and inclusion remains uncertain. This chapter examines AI's role in inclusive assessment and accreditation, highlighting how algorithmic tools can both mitigate and reproduce systemic inequities. Drawing on research, policy, and case studies, it explores AI's potential to enhance accessibility, reduce human bias, and streamline accreditation, while noting risks in data quality, transparency, and accountability. The chapter argues that achieving equitable outcomes requires intentional design, governance, and implementation that prioritize fairness, inclusivity, and ethical responsibility, offering a framework for educators, policymakers, and accrediting bodies to use AI responsibly.
