Abstract

Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into educational ecosystems to cultivate civic skills among students is the central emphasis of this study. Based on cybersociology as a theoretical framework, this study reframes learning as a social negotiation between humans and AI, with the latter influencing the former in terms of civic identity, media literacy, inclusion, ethical reasoning, and data literacy. One hundred and ten first-year students participated. Students' attitudes and competencies were measured before and after the use of the CALLEBAI teaching model using a 20-item Likert-scale questionnaire. Students' civic communication, data analysis, tolerance for variety, ethical awareness in political decision-making, and capacity to recognise misinformation all showed significant gains. The study found that human-AI partnerships (via debate simulations, NLP, adaptive platforms, and AI-based data visualisation) address modern political issues like corruption, polarisation, and disinformation in Indonesia.
