Abstract

This chapter advances a novel integrative perspective on artificial intelligence (AI) in climate action by moving beyond fragmented, sector-specific applications toward a unified environmental governance framework. Its primary contribution lies in developing a conceptual and analytical model that positions AI as a coordination layer linking agriculture, water systems, biodiversity, and climate governance within adaptive decision-support architectures. The chapter demonstrates how AI-enabled environmental intelligence—through predictive analytics, optimization, and scenario modeling—can enhance cross-sectoral decision-making, improve resource allocation, and enable anticipatory governance under climate uncertainty. By integrating heterogeneous data sources, AI offers significant opportunities to identify systemic risks, manage trade-offs, and support resilient and flexible policy responses.
