Abstract

As the workforce evolves, Generation Z (Gen Z) prioritises Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors in career decisions. This chapter explores how ESG commitments shape employer attractiveness, using Signaling Theory and Social Identity Theory to explain Gen Z's job pursuit intentions. It examines the implications for employers, educators, and policymakers, providing strategies for ESG-driven workforce engagement. Future research should focus on empirical validation, cross-industry analysis, and policy impacts to enhance understanding. As ESG principles redefine workplace expectations, organisations integrating sustainability and ethical governance will gain a competitive edge in attracting and retaining Gen Z talent. This chapter contributes to the discourse on ESG in human resource management, highlighting evolving job market trends and the need for businesses to embed ESG principles into their long-term strategies.
