Abstract

In this chapter, the resources of sustainable neighbourhoods to successful ageing across global crises are reviewed with the help of analysing the data of 285 older adults. Results indicate that the quality of the environment, social cohesion, digital inclusiveness, and crisis preparedness have great effects on the emotional wellbeing, autonomy, and resilience. Sustainable neighbourhoods are defined by easy access to services, supportive relationships, green areas and good communication networks, which in turn qualify as protective ecosystems that allow the older people to navigate the uncertainty. The chapter combines both theoretical and empirical understanding to suggest effective measures of enhancing sustainability and readiness to crises at the community level in order to enhance equitable ageing and resilience
