Abstract

Genetic diversity analysis is essential for the improvement and conservation of plant species. The genus Allium is highly valued worldwide for its medicinal and culinary uses. Therefore, in this study, we present a bibliometric analysis of the literature on genetic diversity within the Allium genus. For the screening of bibliometrics analysis, a total of 272 articles were identified from the Scopus database. By employing statistical methods and visualization tools like R software and VOSviewer, the analysis revealed India's prominence in the number of publications and the USA's dominance in global collaboration. Moreover, the journals “Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution”, “Acta Horticulturae”, and “Scientia Horticulturae” published the most. The co-occurrence map showed four different significant research themes and clusters, providing insights into active areas of study. Overall, this analysis contributes to a better understanding of genetic diversity in Allium species globally.
