Abstract

This chapter explores emerging physiotherapy interventions for managing motor and sensory dysfunctions in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through an integrated, multidisciplinary lens. It highlights the interplay between motor, sensory, and communication challenges while emphasizing the collaborative roles of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and audiology. The chapter discusses advancements in digital therapeutics, such as AI-based AAC devices, virtual reality, and tele-rehabilitation, which enhance accessibility and individualized care. It underscores the significance of early hearing screenings, auditory processing assessments, and developmental continuity from childhood to adulthood. By promoting evidence-based, technology-driven, and holistic rehabilitation strategies, the chapter provides a framework for improving motor coordination, sensory regulation, and communication outcomes across the lifespan of individuals with ASD.
