Abstract

This chapter explores the role of inclusive sports in enhancing cognitive development among specially abled children. Grounded in neurodevelopmental and pedagogical research, it examines how adapted physical activities stimulate key cognitive domains such as executive functioning, attention, memory, problem-solving, and social cognition. Inclusive sports serve as powerful interventions that foster neuroplasticity, motor-cognitive integration, and emotional resilience, especially in children with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and other developmental conditions. The chapter highlights evidence-based practices, case studies of successful specially abled athletes, and the integration of assistive technologies to ensure equitable participation. It also addresses implementation challenges and presents strategic recommendations for educators, policymakers, and caregivers. Ultimately, the chapter advocates for inclusive sports as a transformative tool for cognitive empowerment, psychosocial inclusion, and holistic development in children with disabilities.
