Abstract

Education must evolve because contemporary problems can no longer be solved using a single approach. Complex problems require equally complex solutions, which is why interdisciplinary approaches, such as the integration of history, accounting, and legal studies, improve the understanding of the legal, economic, and social spheres and their interconnections. This chapter discusses the need to dismantle silos between disciplines to develop the contextual understanding, analytic reasoning, ethical judgment, and practical skills necessary for civic engagement and professional practice. It examines historical intersections, provides illustrative interdisciplinary frameworks (including technology), discusses resistance to change (professional development, evaluation frameworks, and system resistance), and reviews case studies.
