Abstract

This study examines teacher efficacy among Grade 10 Social Studies teachers in Zambales, Philippines, focusing on controversial issues. Using mixed-methods research, the study explored correlations between teacher efficacy and teaching outcomes. Quantitative analysis revealed significant correlations: positive teaching behavior (r = .708), engagement (r = .620), effectiveness (r = .632), satisfaction (r = .581), and motivation (r = .368). Three key efficacy dimensions emerged: content mastery, facilitation confidence, and cultural navigation. High-efficacy teachers showed student-centered approaches in engaging learning spaces. The research uncovered a recursive relationship between efficacy and effectiveness, where teaching experiences strengthen professional self-beliefs. Findings offer insights into development strategies integrating knowledge and cultural sensitivity. The study highlights the role of teacher efficacy in creating transformative learning experiences in social studies education.
