Abstract

This chapter examines the urgent responsibility of social work educators to remain committed to upholding social justice as tensions escalate and how they can resist compliance with restrictive policies while fostering inclusive learning environments and preparing practitioners to engage marginalized communities. It outlines critical challenges that educators may face, including fear of professional retaliation, curriculum censorship, and dismantling safe spaces for marginalized students. Additionally, the erasure of DEI efforts risks silencing the lived experiences of historically excluded populations, undermining the very voices that social work seeks to elevate. Educators must navigate how to remain student-centered while responding to shifting political expectations, institutional pressures, and community needs.
