Abstract

This chapter addresses the revolution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) detection and response by microbial genomics and diagnostic innovation. Three diagnostic platforms (PCR, CRISPR-based detection and Whole Genome Sequencing, WGS) were evaluated in terms of accuracy, reproducibility and turnaround time using 100 clinical isolates. WGS had the best detection rate of (97), the best genotype-phenotype correlation (r = 0.86), whereas CRISPR is the most rapid. Genome Data + AI analytics allowed foreseeing resistance and mainstream public health surveillance. The results highlight genomics as a foundation of accurate microbiology, which promotes real-time AMR surveillance and evidence-based policy intervention in a One Health context.
