Abstract

In contemporary education, mental health issues among students are increasingly prevalent. Universities are incorporating mindfulness into their curricula to help students focus, avoid distractions, and improve academic performance. This chapter examines mindfulness in higher education and the holistic development of students' physical and mental health, rather than the previous overemphasis on performance and teaching. This chapter also defines mindfulness, holistic development, and well-being in well-centered universities. They apply psychology, education, and art studies to teaching. Art is integrated into mindfulness practices to promote holistic development through identity formation, physical, mental, and emotional health, and intercultural connections. This chapter clarifies the key challenges of integrating art into human-centered training to foster more sustainable human potential development.
