Abstract

Amid rising concerns about student mental health and faculty burnout, this chapter explores the integration of arts-based mindfulness in higher education as a transformative strategy for fostering well-being and inclusive academic cultures. Grounded in contemplative education, embodied cognition, and constructivist learning theories, the chapter highlights how creative practices—such as music, visual arts, dance, and writing—enhance emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and community engagement. A multi-tiered policy framework is proposed, addressing national, institutional, and individual levels, supported by global case studies and evidence-based implementation strategies. The chapter emphasizes the need for systemic integration, evaluation tools, and sustainable leadership to embed mindfulness practices within curricula and campus life, ultimately advocating for a paradigm shift toward holistic, resilient, and compassionate learning environments.
