Abstract

Mental health among online college students in higher education is necessary to address. Given the increase in reports from students experiencing greater anxiety, depression, and academic struggles, it is essential to explore psychological strategies that promote greater overall emotional well-being and foster improved resilience among online college students. Individual strategies, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, and cognitive reframing, lie at the forefront of supporting the psychological well-being of online college students. Other factors, such as peer support through social networks and institutional efforts, including providing training and education to all faculty and stakeholders on supporting online student mental health needs based on a resilience-focused approach, align with promoting online student psychological well-being. This chapter presents an integrative approach to online student mental health by including scholarly evidence-based interventions and strategies aimed to better support students' capacity to thrive while attending college online.
