Abstract

The growth of e-commerce and last-mile delivery systems, while improving retail logistics, has detrimentally impacted urban biodiversity. This is primarily due to increased land use for infrastructure and warehouses, emissions from fossil-fuel vehicles, noise pollution, and ecosystem disruptions. The reliance on trucks, excessive packaging, and poor urban planning fragments habitats, leading to declines in urban wildlife. Solutions such as electric vehicles, bike and drone deliveries, centralized pick-up lockers, and green initiatives are being explored. The research concludes that a rapid shift to more sustainable last-mile delivery methods is crucial for urban progress and environmental protection
